Submission standards & delivery specifications for the Storietv platform.

Platform Vision

We enforce high-quality creative and technical standards to ensure a premium viewing experience while remaining accessible to new and diverse voices. These guidelines outline submission requirements, delivery specifications, and support services, adopted from industry standards and tailored to foster discoverability, engagement, and monetization. These are just guidelines, and we happy to make accomadations on a case by case basis.

Creative & Narrative Requirements

Requirements for Acceptance

  • Original Storytelling: Films must have a clear narrative arc (beginning, middle, end) with emotional or thematic resonance that aligns with Gen Z's preference for authentic, impactful stories.
  • High-Effort Production: Regardless of budget, films must demonstrate intentional framing, sound design, and editing to ensure professional quality.
  • Enhanced Engagement: Filmmakers are encouraged to provide metadata (e.g., synopsis, themes) to support trivia, production notes, and character insights.
  • Legal Compliance: All content must comply with copyright and trademark laws (see Section 4).
  • Discoverability Tags: Include tags for cast, crew, and genres. Cast and Crew must have active accounts to be tagged.

Not Accepted

  • Vlogs, influencer content, or unedited mobile clips lacking cinematic intent.
  • AI-generated content without a story arc.
  • Content promoting hate speech, illegal activity, or violence without narrative merit.
  • Copyright/trademark violations or unlicensed materials.

Technical Film Delivery Requirements

A. Resolution & Image Standards

  • Minimum Resolution: 1920 x 1080 (Full HD); Preferred: 3840 x 2160 (4K UHD).
  • HDR Support: Preferred formats include HDR10, Dolby Vision, or HLG.
  • Camera Requirements: iPhone 14 Pro, Blackmagic 6K, RED, Sony FX3.
  • Bit Depth: Minimum 10-bit (8-bit not accepted).
  • If unsure, please reach out. These are just guidelines.

B. Aspect Ratio

Supported Ratios: 16:9, 2.39:1, 1.85:1. Must be consistent with creative intent.

C. Frame Rate

Accepted: 23.976, 24, 25, or 30 fps, constant.

D. Audio Requirements

Minimum: Stereo (2.0); Preferred: 5.1 or Dolby Atmos. Loudness: -27 LKFS ±2 LU.

E. File Formats

Submission: MP4 or MOV; Preferred: ProRes 422 HQ, DNxHR HQX, or IMF. Bitrate: 20 Mbps (HD), 35+ Mbps (4K).

Legal & Copyright Compliance

Filmmakers must own or license all creative assets. No third-party trademarks or logos unless incidental. Thumbnails must be original/licensed and mobile-readable.

Subtitles, Dubbing & Metadata

Subtitles (SRT or VTT) encouraged; dubbing required for foreign-language films. Metadata includes title, director, runtime, resolution, frame rate, audio format, languages, genre, logline, cast, and crew.

Creative Presentation & QC

All text must stay within 4:3 Title Safe Area. No artifacts/pixelation. Audio must be clean. Films failing QC may require re-export.

Approval & Monetization Process

Content and technical review within 5–7 business days (movies), 2–3 days (shorts). Approved films earn token-based revenue (80% to filmmakers), trivia bonuses, and future licensing opportunities.

  • Preferred: 4K UHD
  • Format: MP4 (H.264) or ProRes
  • Max Size: 15 GB (purchase), 12 GB (rental)
  • Thumbnails: 3000x3000, JPEG/PNG

Shorts

  • Required: 1080p (720p acceptable)
  • Format: MP4
  • Max Size: 2 GB
  • Thumbnails: 640x640 min (1080x1080 preferred)

Gamification & Token Integration

Earn tokens via trivia, watch parties, or sharing clips. Tokens unlock content, tip creators, and drive leaderboards and badges.

Final Notes

Storietv bridges DIY passion and professional standards. These guidelines serve as a framework, but exceptions may be made for uniquely creative works. Student films welcome.
